{"id":1243,"date":"2017-07-03T10:55:35","date_gmt":"2017-07-03T18:55:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stol750project.info\/?p=1243"},"modified":"2017-07-03T10:56:52","modified_gmt":"2017-07-03T18:56:52","slug":"more-odds-and-ends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stol750project.info\/?p=1243","title":{"rendered":"More Odds and Ends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is a four day weekend for me but that isn&#8217;t as useful as it sounds as the high temps are in the low 110s (low 40s for my metric cousins) and the hangar is close to 100 by 11am&#8230; so early starts are what&#8217;s needed. On this early start I completed what I think is the last item in the engine bay: sealing a couple of firesleeve ends<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/WbZ2Wk\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4071\/35567558331_1c65fe6b0f_c.jpg?resize=600%2C800&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Sealing firesleeve\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I also added a clamp to the fire return hose for good measure, though that silicone tape is unlikely to break or give a gap. I removed the clamp off the other side of the return hose so I could add some silicone tape as a sealer there, too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/Wow2uK\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After this I put the cowling back on and I am calling the engine good until I have the inspection (or something happens).<\/p>\n<p>Previously I think I mentioned that I needed to go back and double wire the safety tie on the turnbuckles which I did for the outside lines<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/V7dXU5\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and inside<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/Wowdbe\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lastly I put some new labels on that I think are more compliant with the regulations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/V7dWKb\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" panel I used some black tape to remove the labels on switches that are not in use.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/Va14uk\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" the return of the out of focus pic of the week).<\/p>\n<p>Going through the 154 point check list, I am down now to just a couple of items, all engine related:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>brake pad condition (so not really to do with the engine, but needs the engine on to do it)<\/li>\n<li>Mag check (I did one today at 3000rpm and the drops were ok, but needs to be done at 4000)<\/li>\n<li>More time on the engine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>and all the required paperwork, I am way behind getting that together.<\/p>\n<p>But the application paperwork is now all into the FAA so once they have approved the inspection, I can set a date with Matt to come out and show me what a death trap I&#8217;ve built.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is a four day weekend for me but that
