Made good progress today. Started out in typical fashion with hole deburring and priming of the second slat: the pilot side inboard slat. While waiting for the primer to dry I had a go at cutting out the tips from the fibreglass mould. I had contacted Zenith to ask the best method and they had recommended the snips. So I set to it and got them liberated from the mould but not yet cut to size.
After the primer was dry, the slat was riveted together.
Next up was the first outboard slat. These are a little bigger than the inboard ones and the ribs are more centrally located so I was worried these would be harder to match the ribs with the pre-drilled holes. It turned out that to be the easiest one so far – either we were getting good at this or this was a much better matched skin.
Here’s a picture with the original smaller clecos holding everything in place but the intermediate holes were drilled to size 30 and the larger clecos installed. I thought it made a cool rainbow:
With all the holes drilled to size 30 it was time for a break before deburring.
