The back of the control horn is strengthened by attaching a strip of L-angle to the horn and spar. The location of the holes were determined by placing it under the skin and drilling through the skin holes, then moving the L-angle on top of the skin (where it will eventually be attached) and drilling through the holes in the horn. These holes are then enlarged for an A5 rivet.
With the control horn assembled and drilled we are now ready to rivet. But before that I used a tip from the help DVD that said to drill out the holes in the nose skin to size 30 so that we will only have to fold it over once. Otherwise once folded we’d drill and then unfold for deburring, and then fold again. The folding over isn’t easy so we really only want to do it once. So I drilled out the holes in the nose skin, disassembled everything and applied primer to the rivet lines.
The plan from there was to get at least the main skins riveted to the spar and ribs but I’d been suffering from a cold all weekend and decided that I wasn’t up to it, therefore calling it quits for the weekend.
