The plane isn’t even finished and it is getting an upgrade! At Sun ‘n’ Fun this year, Zenith announced Edition 3 of the 750 with a larger fuselage and improved aerodynamics:
.
I hadn’t initially thought I was interested but after reading some discussions about it, and a brief email exchange with Zenith, I was persuaded to spend a couple of hundred dollars more and go for it. Obviously the big change is that when I order the fuselage later this year I will get the new kit, but I also need to replace the root ribs on the two wings as they are different in Edition 3. I think this is due to the slightly higher location that the wings occupy now. I also get new root skins but since I failed miserably earlier to attach then I am quite happy about that, maybe these will be easier – they come as a top and a bottom.
It does mean I have to take out some rivets on the completed left wing to get the rib out but I don’t see that being too much work, and of course right now there are no skins on the right wing so that will be pretty easy. However, it does mean I am stopped right now as there is no point riveting on the bottom skin if I have to take it partially off to replace the rib. So, the plane build is on a break right now. More later when the parts come.
