Cabin Floor (4h)

Riveting feels good, so I made myself feel good by riveting the side channel doublers in place.

Meanwhile, the cabin floor is about to get a lot busier. First up is the brake cylinder supports, they come in two pairs, undrilled. I (thought I) followed the instructions in the book for installing them properly but when I went to test fit a cylinder I found that one pair was not properly aligned and I could not get the bolt through it.

Since I drilled that pair I will have to order replacements, hopefully not too expensive. The book calls for a size 12 hole but the plans say size 20 so for now I finished them at size 20.

From here it was just a whirlwind of adding on parts using pre-drilled holes, I wish the whole kit was like this! First on was the heel support.

Then the seat channel:

The gear channel (which is where the front and rear fuselage will join):

The left and right arm rests:

Finally, there are two rear seat supports that sit on top of the gear channel.

Now time for a bit of real work. I needed to fabricate two l-angles to attach each seat support to the gear channel.

We’re getting real close to having the forward fuselage joined to the rear so first I put each cabin skin inside to check for a good fit.

In particular we want it to be up against the baggage compartment and still snug at the front.

Here are both cabin sides attached, both fit nicely.

With the cabin sides checked out, time to attach them to the cabin floor.

There are a couple more l-angles to fabricate but then we’ll be ready for our first fitting of the cabin floor to the rear fuselage.
