Today was a milestone day – the very last kit piece came out of the wrapper.
Inside the brown paper bag was the access panel cover that goes under the plane. I realised this should probably have been drilled out 5 years ago when the nut plates were installed but I was pleased to see that it came with pre-drilled holes. So it was a simple case of enlarging the holes for the screws.
And then screwing it into position was easy.
Before I could do that though I had to tidy the ELT antenna wire up which is about 5 feet too long. I coiled it up and set it into position with some ties. I also had to keep it away from some sharp edges
Next I decided to tackle getting the tape off the doors. When they were shipped to me 3-4 years ago they looked like this
and that tape is now really really stuck on. I was able to get most of it off both doors but there is a lot of glue residue left over.
The dog wasn’t impressed and offered no help as I tried copious amounts of goo gone to clean it up. I can see it will take me several hours of work to get them ready for final use.
